Our Class of 2025 has set a new benchmark for university destinations at BIS HCMC with an unprecedented growth in the number of BIS HCMC students securing places at the world’s top universities. Well over 50% of our students are joining universities ranked in the QS 100 world rankings. An incredible 34 students, that’s 32%, and almost one in three of our graduating cohort, are attending a QS Top 30 university worldwide. This is a huge leap from last year’s still very impressive 17%.

An unforgettable experience in Houston Texas, that taught our students about leadership, collaboration and a united commitment in designing creative solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. We hear directly from Devon, Martin, and SeeEun as they share their inspiring journey in a beautifully written blog—capturing every moment, reflection, and discovery along the way.

As we eagerly await the IBDP results, we take a look at the incredible offers received by our graduating class of 2025. They have already achieved remarkable success, receiving countless offers from the world’s leading institutions. They've received an outstanding 21 offers from 6 of the top 10 universities globally, including Imperial College London, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Stanford University, National University Singapore (NUS), and University College London (UCL).

Students at BIS HCMC continue to achieve outstanding results on the global stage. This year, six of our graduates received a total of twelve offers from South Korea’s most prestigious universities, including all three “SKY” universities — Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University — as well as KAIST, SKKU, Hanyang University, and Chung-Ang University.

A team of BIS HCMC students has made history at the prestigious Conrad Challenge, held recently at the Space Center in Houston, Texas. Competing against over 4,700 teams from more than 50 countries, the BIS team won first place in both of the categories they entered – Best Power Pitch and the Glinsky Expo Award – an unprecedented achievement in the challenge's history.

We are thrilled with the success of our Class of 2025 graduates, with eleven students receiving multiple offers to the top three Canadian universities!  Congratulations to all of you! This year, we are proud to see no other than nine students receive offers from the University of Toronto with many of these students receiving offers also for McGill University and The University of British Columbia.  These prestigious institutions are ranked as the top three universities in Canada and in the top 40 universities globally!

BIS HCMC students have once again proven their mathematical prowess on the international stage, achieving outstanding success at two prestigious competitions.

We are proud to announce the achievements of ten BIS HCMC students who have been recognised with the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards and Oxford AQA Go Further Awards 2024. These prestigious awards celebrate the highest performers in Cambridge and Oxford IGCSE exams across a wide range of subjects. This year, BIS HCMC students have excelled in Mathematics, English Language and Literature, Art and Design, Mandarin Chinese, Biology, Music, and Foreign Languages, showcasing the diversity of talent within our school.

Last month we were proud to have three student ambassadors attend this year’s NAE-UNICEF Student Summit, hosted for the first time ever in Houston, Texas from 12 to 19 June 2024.  The event was hosted at Nord Anglia’s two schools in the city: The Village School and the British International School of Houston. Houston was chosen as the ideal location for the Summit thanks to being the first officially recognised “Child-Friendly City” in the United States of America.

At BIS we empower our students to take up leadership roles so that they can take action and make positive changes both locally and globally. One of the many ways students can make a difference at BIS and beyond is by representing the school as part of our student council. Following his support at the Ironman branded series of triathlons last weekend in Phu Quoc, 6x Ironman Triathlon World Champion Mark Allen visited BIS HCMC to share his journey and advice on smashing personal goals. Racing in Phu Quoc last weekend in the inaugural Ironman 70.3, Sprint triathlon and Ironkids, were BIS HCMC staff, students and parents. It doesn’t matter whether you are an athlete, an artist or a scholar, Allen’s story is truly inspiring and relevant to us all.

At BIS HCMC we deliver in school a comprehensive wellbeing curriculum to provide our students with the tools, resources and support to balance their social, physical, emotional and mental health. As part of this, we also look at preventative measures to ensure the safety of our students beyond BIS and equip them with knowledge and skills for both today and their future success in the wider world.  This term we were extremely fortunate to welcome back into school experts from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City’s Regional Security Office (RSO) to discuss more on the topic of drugs and substance abuse with some of our students and parents.

You may have heard towards the end of the last academic year that our Secondary students will be switching to a two-week timetable, either at our parent workshop led by Deputy Head of Curriculum and Learning, Mr Lee Falconer, in our weekly update or directly from your child. But what does this mean and why change? How will this benefit learning and the educational experience at BIS HCMC?

Changes to our curriculum with the introduction of our 2 week timetable have allowed us to introduce an extra skills-based literacy lesson, called reciprocal reading. The small group sessions help students decode texts, delve into the deeper meaning and learn new vocabulary in a student-led setting. Literacy has been shown to have an affect on success across all subject matters and even affect GCSE results across subjects like maths, art and history. 

In celebration of Book Week, we recap last term's inspirational author visit from Nicola Davies, award-winning British Author and Zoologist.

In May this year, a team of thirty-four Year 7 and 8 BIS HCMC students participated in a competition which was like no other. A unique experiential learning and social impact experience which took them on a journey of empathy and compassion!

It is with great pride that we announce that 10 BIS HCMC students received Cambridge Assessment Outstanding Learner Awards for their exceptional achievements in IGCSEs in 2022.

We are delighted to announce that BIS HCMC has retained the British Schools Overseas “Outstanding in Every Category” status following the, Penta International inspection of our school in November 2022.

Here at BIS HCMC we take great joy in our Nord Anglia collaborations with pioneering institutions such as MIT, Juilliard and of course the humanitarian aid organisation, UNICEF. With December 2021 marking the 75th anniversary of UNICEF, our Year 12 student Nini, was selected to interview former UNICEF UK President and UNICEF Ambassador, Lord David Puttnam. At BIS HCMC, our Virtual School Experience (VSE) provision draws upon the expertise, resourcefulness and creativity of our teaching heroes to deliver an engaging online learning experience across the Early Years and Foundation Stage (EYFS).
