As a community of teachers and students, we spent Friday’s assembly exploring our identity, culture, and values, asking important questions of ourselves such as “Who are we?” and “What do we stand for?”

Recently, our school is buzzing with excitement, thanks to a wave of good news from our students as they received tremendous recognition from many renowned global competitions. In this article, let us celebrate the wonderful accomplishments of our BIS Hanoi’s students over the last few weeks.

What a jam-packed first half-term it has been! I am sure everyone is ready to rest and recharge of our non-screen batteries over the coming half-term break.

Today marks the end of our first half term of Term 1 of this academic year. How time does fly!

We have reached the half-term holiday, a timely opportunity to reflect on the successes we as a Secondary School community have achieved in the last 10 weeks.

On September 25th, a group of Secondary students from BIS Hanoi launched a music documentary titled ‘Darkness to Light’ as part of their community project called 'Silver Lining'.

The Vietnamese Team are very proud to have brought our BIS Hanoi community together to celebrate the Moon Festival for 2021.

Students at The British International School Hanoi, part of the global Nord Anglia Education family of schools, are celebrating after receiving their IGCSE results.

Our students achieve more than they may have thought possible. We believe there is no limit to what students can achieve socially, personally and academically. This year, our students’ academic results reflect our shared commitment to excellence in this area.

As usual, we can’t wait to congratulate our students who obtained the best results in each subject last week! Well done everyone!

Last week was a very exciting week for mathematics at BIS. Students across the Primary School took part in a House Maths competition featuring a variety of different tasks and challenges that the students engaged in across the week.

Towards the end of the term, our students still remained enthusiastic about engaging in different learning activities. Huge congratulations to our Secondary learning stars from last week. The award recognized your outstanding performance in a variety of subjects. Well done!

On Tuesday (June 1st), our KS3 students competed in their first Virtual House Competition, called "The Lockdown Games." Their Heads of Year assigned them four fascinating assignments in which they could earn points for their house. Towards the end of the game, the House with the most winning points was crowned champion.

Last week was another exciting and busy week at BIS Hanoi. Huge congratulation to each of our Secondary Learning Stars this week.

This week was Performing Arts Week in Primary, and every student took part in a day of live workshops and challenges developing their singing, rhythm, dance and creative thinking skills.

Many Virtual Learning activities performed by students, as well as the attitude they have shown about their jobs, have left us in awe. We have listed the following names as ‘Virtual Learning Stars,' either for their wonderful individual piece of work or for their strong commitment and always moving beyond and above what has been expected of students.

What a fun and crazy week it's been! Our students in Years 7, 8, and 9 have been catapulted into all areas of creativity and physical exertion when the practical subjects on Project Week took over. They had a wonderful week learning different ways to use their brains.

The final term of Year 6 is very busy and thrilling, but it is also a very emotional time for our students when they begin to bid farewell to their Primary lives and look forward to the start of their Secondary journey. Here at BIS, the Year 6 and 7 teams collaborate to ensure that the transition process helps our students be well prepared for this step up, and that they feel confident, ready and a lot less nervous!

Last week students from Years 1 to 6 participated in the Virtual STEAM Challenge. For three days, one per phase group, a prerecorded video launched the challenge. Each student was required to research, and then perform a scientific experiment whilst filming and presenting a ‘TV show’. They were encouraged to watch an episode of Emily’s Wonder Lab on Netflix for inspiration.
